A Harare man was left with serious burns after his wife chucked a burning paraffin stove at him. His only crime – he had questioned her about an alleged affair. Wilson Sithole (36) is now being treated at Harare Central Hospital after his wife Sarah Musiyiwa (32) flew into a right rage and burnt him.

Sithole said he suspected that his wife was having an affair and decided to investigate.
He said when the couple went to Kadoma to visit their four-year-old who was staying with his sister, things took a bitter turn. Sithole said his wife received a phone call which she took outside. He eavesdropped and heard her talking sweet nothings to another man.

He said soon after the mobile phone was switched off. He managed to get the phone and switched it on. He phoned back the last number she had received and a man answered.
Sithole said he quizzed him until he admitted that he was seeing his wife. He claimed that he had not been told that Sarah was a married woman. A furious Sithole asked his wife about the man and she said he was nothing but a work colleague.

Sithole said he decided not to press her this time, hoping to catch them red handed. Upon returning to their home in Harare, Sithole said he stumbled on the pair walking and he immediately pounced on the man.
He said the lover ran away, leaving the couple to row in the street. Back home the row escalated leading to his wife tossing the burning stove on him.
His wife fled and he was taken to the hospital by his brother. She later called him after three days asking for forgiveness.
In an interview, Sarah admitted to burning her husband. She said she had tossed the stove in anger as her husband was beating her up.
“He was beating me saying I was a prostitute. I am not a prostitute. In fact I was a virgin when he married me but his relatives feed him information alleging that I am a prostitute and he believes it.
Sarah said her husband was unemployed and she was the one who supported the family.
“This issue of a boyfriend, its all lies. He asked me when he saw me walking with our child next to some man. I did not even know him. That is when it all kicked off.”
“I still love my husband and I have apologised to him.” she said.
