Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi has described Nigeria’s exit from the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Brazil as painful.
Speaking at the post match media conference after losing to France in the Round of 16 clash against France decided at the Estadio Nacional Stadium in Brasilia, Keshi who appeared downcast said he was optimistic he would win the game and progress to the quarter final but the game suddenly changed against him.
According to him it is a game and such things happen in football. “That is football for you. It is a game and it has happened I can’t change that. But the loss is painful. I never planned to lose this game but like I said that is football.”

On the goal scored by Emmanuel Emenike in the first half but disallowed by the referee, Keshi said he will not speak against the decision of the referee as his call is final. “Only the referee can tell why he disallowed the goal. I won’t talk about his call but there were a lot of his decisions that were questionable. You he decides what happens and I cannot change what has happened.”
Keshi said his team played well and could have won the game had they converted the begging chances they got during the game.
