One of Boko Haram’s camps in Cameroon has been bombed by the Cameroonian army, killing many insurgents. A security official disclosed that the camp was shelled on Wednesday, August 27, by tanks stationed on the frontier at Fotokol (on Cameroon’s side of the border). “Seen from Fotokol this morning, Gamboru looks empty and smells of death. Nobody knows how many Boko Haram members were killed, but it is obvious that many were,” the source said. Confirming the incident, a local police officer said the camps were abandoned houses which the sect has been occupying since they entered Gamboru, which is on the border of Cameroon. “We think they still control the town, because there are many of them and they didn’t all gather in the same place,” he said. This is coming barely 3 days after Boko Haram seized control of Gamboru-Ngala, a key township on the border between Nigeria and Cameroon.
