CPP Endorses Jonathan As Presidential Candidate

Just a day left to the country’s presidential election, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Goodluck Jonathan has been adopted by another opposition party as its presidential candidate for the March 28 poll. Nigerian Pilot on Wednesday reported that the National chairman of the Citizens Popular Party (CPP), Chief Sam Eke made this known at a press briefing in Abuja. READ ALSO: Jonathan’s Ambition A Threat To Democracy, National Security “After months of campaign, wide consultations, deliberating as a political party and opinions received from millions of Nigerians across all tribes and religions, the party has come to a conclusion to adopt President Jonathan as its presidential candidate,”he said. The party’s national chairman further hinted that the decision was propelled by the understanding that President Jonathan would continue to pursue enthusiastically and complete his transformation agenda. Eke also gave the implementation of the 2014 National Conference recommendations as a reason for its adoption, expressing optimism that it would be implemented. The national chairman ad vised that greater effort should be made to secure lives and property as demonstrated in the last six weeks. The party leaders pleaded with President Jonathan to make sure the unity of Nigeria is not subjected to any renegotiation, when re-elected.
