Gov. Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State on Thursday reiterated his administration’s commitment to continue placing high premium on execution of development programmes, to enhance the people’s wellbeing.

Al-Makura stated this at a meeting with prominent indigenes of the state.

The meeting, held at the instance of the governor, was also attended by Sen. George Akume from Benue.

According to him, the administration will be fair to everybody and ensure speedy transformation in terms of human and infrastructure development.

“This administration is on a rescue mission to save the people and enable the citizens to enjoy the much-needed dividends of democracy,’’ he said. He said the administration would do everything humanly possible to change the lives of the people by providing good roads and other infrastructure.

He promised the Tiv community in the state of good tidings ahead, stressing that if given another mandate, he would attract more government presence in the area.

He, however, debunked some claims about his administration’s reservation for the Tiv community in the state, saying the government would work towards realisation of their needs.

The governor expressed appreciation of Sen. Akume’s effort towards strengthening democratic ideals in Benue and the entire country.

“It is people like this we need to lead this country to the yearnings for a change for rule of law rather than impunity; a change for the betterment of the downtrodden and the ordinary man,” he said He appealed to the Tiv community to come out en mass and vote for APC during the Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections on Saturday.

In their separate remarks, Senators Akume and Joseph Waku lauded the foresight of Gov. Al-Makura in the provision of infrastructure and human capacity building.

They called on the Tiv community to vote for the governor, to ensure speedy development of the state.
