Former national legal adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olusola Oke on Wednesday dumped the party for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Oke who was the candidate of the party in 2012 governorship in Ondo state said his movement to the party is be part of the change that is blowing across the country. Speaking at the APC party’s secretariat on Oyemekun road in Akure, the state capital, Oke said ‎it was a “difficult decision” for him to dump the PDP for the opposition APC in the state after several consultations from his close allies.

Oke who defected along with thousands of his supporters including bigwigs of the PDP across the 18 local government of the state said he had resisted to dump the PDP for the APC but later took a tough finally decision.

He disclosed that he had discussion with former President Olusegun Obasanjo last weekend in Abeokuta, Ogun state capital before finally pitching his tent with the APC in the state. “PDP is a party that I served for 16 years. It has actually been a difficult decision to be part of this change. “I resisted the actual wind of change that was blowing until it was almost going to blow me out. Now, I have surrendered and I have come to APC not because PDP lost election.

“I have come over because the wind of change that is currently blowing in Nigeria must blow in Ondo State.

‎No machinations would stop that change that Ondo state wants to experience mostly in Saturday of the House of Assembly polls.” “Ondo state is today the poorest state in the south west and we have no reason to be poor but for the bad leadership in the state”

He commended the leaders and stalwarts of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state for their steadfastness and courage ‎despite intimidation on its supporters.

“I know that PDP agents deployed all the arsenals in their capacity to stop the change that the state wanted to experience but you remained unperturbed and stood firmed in what you believe”.

Oke noted that he had come to the APC to add value to its structures and would ensure the party emerged victorious in the April 11 Saturday House of Assembly poll in the state.

While receiving him to APC, the state Chairman, Mr. Isaac Kekemeke urged them to justify their defection during the coming assembly election.

Kekemeke said “All of us are coming together to rescue our state from one man who believe that he is smarter than everybody.

This is about all the good people of the state coming together on APC platform to deliver the state from one show. ” Among the lists of PDP stalwarts who defected with Olusola Oke to the APC are: Senator Gbenga Ogunniya, Princess Oladunni Odu, Mrs. Nkem Oke, Femi Bello, Abayomi Sheba, Albert Akintoye, former head of Service in Ondo state-,Alaba Isijola.
