Scotland Manager Dismisses Eagles.

Scotland Manager Gordon Strachan has praised his charges following Wednesday’s 2-2 draw against Nigeria. Goals either side of half time capped an exciting game on a chilly night at Craven Cottage. Strachan, however, believes his side could have racked up a bigger score on the night against the African champions. “I thought we were terrific. I thought our imagination and bravery was excellent. “At times, there was some rustiness about my players but that’s understandable because they haven’t played together for awhile. “We were a pass away from (scoring) four or five goals (against Nigeria on Wednesday) night,” Strachan told the Scottish FA’s YouTube channel. The gaffer then took the time to discuss his side’s opening goal- an outrageous effort from Charlie Mulgrew that left the Nigeria goalkeeper, Austin Ejide, scrambling in embarrassment. Strachan said his players did not practice the move and lauded Mulgrew for his “imaginative touch.” “No, no, no. That’s nowhere near the training pitch. That’s an imaginative touch. That’s what you call that,” he said. Wednesday’s meeting was the second ever between the two sides at senior international level. Nigeria won the first fixture 2-1. At the time it was one of the Super Eagles’ build up games for the 2002 Fifa World Cup finals in Korea and Japan.
