The Borno State Police Command confirmed the killing of 20 persons following a suicide bomb attack at the popular Monday Market in Maiduguri on Saturday.
Police spokesman, Gideon Jubrin, gave the death toll, while addressing newsmen in Maiduguri.
“Casualty figure is 20 and 18 injured, including the female suicide bomber that detonated the Improvised Explosive Device,” Jubrin said.
The blast occurred at the Yen-Kaji section of the Monday market, where live chickens are sold. It was reported to have been carried out by a female suicide bomber.
