Brutal Murder : Road Union boss killed in Lagos by unknown gunmen

The incessant supremacy fight amongst members of the National Union of Road Transports Workers is far from being nipped in the bud as a unit chairman of the body has been shot dead in Lagos.

It was tears and lamentation at the residence of Babajide Dosunmu, aka Mados, the Chairman of the Yaba, Lagos Unit of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), who was murdered by unknown gunmen. The murder of the NURTW boss brought market women, drivers, friends and sympathisers who gathered at his home on Queen Street in the Oyingbo area of state, to mourn a man who was said to be easy going and friendly to everyone around him. Mados, who was 46-years-old, was, until his death, the Vice Chairman of Lagos Mainland branch of the union. He was reportedly shot dead at the back of his house by the assailants while parking his car on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 after he returned from his office on Cemetery Street, Yaba, lending credence to the theory that he must have been trailed from the office. He was said to have been fell by a bullet that hit him in the leg when he attempted to run for his life. The gang then moved close to him and shot him in the buttock and the chest, with the bullet piercing his heart region, leaving him dead. Some transport workers are of the view that the father of six who was married to two wives, was killed by a rival group in a bid to take control of motor parks in the Tarmac area, Oyingbo, which were under Mandos. One of them said:

"We know who did this. He escaped a similar attack last week and now they have killed him. They can come to eat his body. This is just the beginning."
