Police Arrest 357 Ahead Of General Elections In Kano

The Kano State Command of Nigeria Police Force has arrested 357 suspected political thugs as part of its operation to clear the state of criminals that may cause chaos during the general election.

In a press statement read by the Police public relation officer, ASP Magaji Musa Majiya, the force said that out of the 357 suspects, 28 were screened and acquitted unconditionally, while 329 were charged to various competent courts of law for prosecution.



According to him, the Kano Police Command will get rid of all thugs across the state before and after the general election.

The statement further revealed that in the command’s determination to clear the capital of crimes, vigorous surveillance patrol and intelligence gathering was intensified which yielded in the clamping down on armed robbery suspects and the recovery of arms and ammunitions.

“Arms recovered are one AK47 rifle, 22 locally made pistols, 138 live ammunitions, 31 cartridges, knives, cutlasses and house breaking implements”

, he stated.

Majiya confirmed the arrest of Ibrahim Kabiru and Abubakar Abdullahi of Zura village in Minjibir local government area of Kano for being in possession of one locally made pistol, saying they were to carry out a robbery on a well known businessman in the town of Minjibir as at the time of their arrest.
